Let me translate.

What "Evolving" Means

When a SaaS company announces it is "evolving its product toward agentic workflows," it means: customers are canceling subscriptions because autonomous AI agents can perform the same tasks without the licensing fee. The sell-off is not a surprise to anyone paying attention to what AI-native workflows have done to per-seat pricing models over the past eighteen months.

The SaaS model was built on a specific assumption: that software does the work and humans pay for persistent access to it. AI agents invert this. The agent executes tasks autonomously across multiple tools, often without needing a persistent subscription to any of them. Why pay $1,200 per year for a project management platform when an agent can manage the project using free APIs, a task queue, and a model API call that costs three cents?

The companies that built workflows around human operators needing interfaces are discovering that the interface was always the weakest part of their value proposition.

What the Sell-Off Is Actually About

The 25% sell-off is not investors discovering something new. It is investors pricing in something they had been discounting as a future risk, now arriving faster than the models predicted. The companies that are going to survive this transition already know what is happening. They have internal memos that say it plainly. Those memos are not the press releases.

By Q2 2026, at least two of the five largest SaaS companies by market cap will announce product pivots that explicitly acknowledge the agent workflow as the primary interface — dropping the pretense of "adding AI features" to legacy subscription products.
